Justice is Part of the Kingdom of God

  • Isaiah 9:7 ESV – 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Many Christians and their ministries falsely believe that one can not forgive and pursue justice at the same time. Forgiveness and Justice are NOT mutually exclusive.

IT IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF BOTH THE VICTIM AND PERPETRATOR THAT JUSTICE MUST BE PURSUED.

Removing the perpetrator from the church and/or society as a whole removes the guilty from the very temptation of the sin that they have found themselves so easily entangled in. It also allows the victim to live free from the fear of being abused once again.

Too many ministries over the years have claimed that under a “culture of honor,” it is wrong to call out a leader’s sin. However, the reality is that they operate more under a culture of damage control than of honor. What honor is there in not bringing sin into the light where it can be dealt with?

  • 1 John 1:6-7 ESV – 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

The best way to maintain a culture of honor is to walk in the light, and then Jesus can cleanse us from our sin.
